ABOUT

Hello, I am Matthew Powell, a strong technical game designer paired with a wide creative foundation currently specializing in gameplay system programming and AI design. I graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2024 with a B.A. in Digital Media (Game Design). My experience spans 1 year of professional development working on Turmoil and seven years of passionate involvement in game development as a hobbyist, during which I created a range of portfolio projects as part of my studies and have since continued developing games independently.

Notably, I served as technical designer and generalist for Turmoil - a roguelike action game that was developed as a capstone project for UCF with KiwiClockwork Studios, a 13-person team. Turmoil has been fully released on Steam. Additionally, I developed two other projects under Stemulation Studio: Partisan and Knightborn2D.

Presently, I am working on Winds of War, an indie medieval strategy game centered on faction-based play, stochastic mechanics, and immersive design.
